Latest Blog Posts The Preceptory of Paisley Abbey made 3 donations of £200 each, all on 26th June 25, to the following: St Vincent’s Hospice Johnstone, Accord Hospice Paisley and to Paisley Disability Centre.

The District Grand Priory of Strathclyde held its Annual Divine Service on Sunday 11th May 2025 which was hosted by The Preceptory at Paisley Abbey.

On Thursday 6th February, Strathkelvin Preceptory hosted what is fast becoming a regular fixture in their Kalendar of events: a Tri-muster. The photograph shows some of the Fratres who attended this highly-successful event in which the Preceptories of St John Glasgow and Kilpatrick joined their hosts in carrying out the Temple Grade.

In a fine example of inter-District co-operation, the Fratres of the Preceptories of Ardgowan and Brisbane at Largs pooled their ‘match funded’ resources to donate £800 to Ardgowan Hospice. Here, Robert Love of Ardgowan and Past Preceptor Thomas Palmer of Brisbane at Largs hand over the cheque.

‘Santa’ Jimmy came to the Christmas Fair at Hazelwood School where he handed over the magnificent sum of £1,170 to the head teacher (pictured, left). The money includes a donation from District funds – and a wonderful amount raised by Jimmy’s dedication from other sources, including several Masonic Orders.

Using ‘match funding’, the Preceptory of St John Glasgow was able to donate £400 to The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice. Pictured right is the Preceptor, Jimmy Fisher, presenting the cheque to Katie Aird before being given a tour of the superb facilities on offer at this caring, happy place.

The Lanarkshire Freemasons Carol Service, held last December, united members from all Orders in a heartwarming event. Attendees generously donated gifts for local children in need, spreading festive cheer. Though our District doesn’t host its own service, all Fraters are encouraged to support next year’s gathering—details to follow.

Taking advantage of ‘match funding’ from Great Priory, Bute Preceptory donated £500 to each of two local charities: ‘Bute Babies and Toddlers’, and ‘Crossroads Caring for Carers Cowal and Bute’, an organisation dedicated to supporting those individuals (especially young people) who take on the responsibility of taking care of the needs of others.
